Department of Management Information Systems (MIS)


The department of Management Information Systems (MIS) was established in 11/9/2011 as part of the Planning and Management Faculty.


The MIS department strives to be a dynamic competent department with unique inter-disciplinary major that combines technology skills and a thorough grounding in the functional areas of business.

MIS integrates academic and practical educational approaches and adopts applied research emphasis through a dedicated staff that aims at providing quality teaching through continuous enhancement efforts, student success, and community service.

The mission of the MIS department is to equip the students with the ability to apply their knowledge and skills in information systems to successfully meet the organizational and managerial challenges of everyday life by:

  • Providing an accessible, diverse teaching and student-friendly instruction environment rich with opportunities to enhance knowledge, and to stimulate critical thinking skills.
  • Training students in the areas of problem-solving and decision-making and other practical experiences derived from coursework and interaction with the community.
  • Developing a positive character by nurturing an environment that fosters positive values, high ethical standards, a sense of personal responsibility, and self-discipline.
  • Adopting and utilizing a curriculum responsive to the business needs.
  • Recruiting, developing and retaining qualified staff.
  • Undertaking comparative empirical and applied researches to deal with emerging and specialized issues in MIS field.
